Rubber Roof Systems: Certified Carlisle SynTec Contractor
We install only Carlisle Rubber Roof Systems in all our flat roof applications. We are Certified Carlisle SynTec applicators, the most prestigious certification in the Commercial roofing industry. The reason it is difficult to find certified Carlisle applicators: The certification process is the most rigid in the industry and most companies do not meet Carlisle’s stringent requirements.
Asphalt Shingles: Certainteed “SELECT ShingleMaster” Applicator
We use only Certainteed Premium products in all our asphalt shingle applications. We are certified “SELECT ShingleMaster” Applicators. As a “SELECT ShingleMaster” applicator we can provide you with all the upscale SureSmart Plus warranties. This “Select ShingleMaster” certification along with the nearly 5000 roof installations we have performed over our 35 year history make us the Premier contractor in Eastern Ma.

Our Commercial Roofing Specialty has been churches, office buildings, warehouses, banks and all other privately owned commercial buildings. No project is too small or too big, we have all the necessary equipment to make the toughest commercial roof installation easy.
Our Residential Roofing Specialty in and around Essex County has been the high level of Quality Control we use in all our residential installations. We NEVER use black tar. Signs of black tar are an indication of amateurs at work. Tar dries out, cracks then leaks occur. We always replace the chimney flashing with new lead, a process we initiated 20 years ago and picked up by a few other roofers today.
Bio:
Barry Carnes began using the Carnes name when he formed an insulation company in 1977 during the energy crisis when there were long gas lines. You could only get gas on odd and even days depending on the last number of your license plate. As Carnes insulation business grew satisfied customers began to inquire if he did other remodeling work such as siding, windows and roofing. With this potential work waiting in the wings Carnes expanded the business to become a full General Contractor providing a wide range of remodeling services. Carnes refused to cut corners and strived to provide only the highest level materials and workmanship so the finished product provided years of customer satisfaction. Because of this Carnes has received thousands of referrals from satisfied customers.
In 1979, Barry's brother, Ken had just completed four years of service in the United States Navy and with a young family he needed a job, so he joined his brother's company. While Barry devoted his time and energy running the business and securing work, Ken took full control of the work force and became the Executive Production Supervisor. From 1979 to the present Ken has supervised over 5000 projects ranging from a 6 room ranch to a 10 story office building in downtown Boston. Both Barry and Ken hold building licenses from the Massachusetts Board of Building Regulations.
Carnes takes great pride that he does not employ high pressure sales tactics. We take the position that an educated consumer is our best customer. For all potential projects the customer is provided with all available product information, licenses, registrations, insurance certificates and referrals. This allows the customer to make an educated decision on who to choose for the upcoming project. That decision is most often AB Carnes, Inc.
